چکیده

Laurate (LA−)-intercalated nickel–chromium-layered double hydroxides (LDHs) were synthesized using the co-precipitation method and investigated as a potential photocatalyst for methylene orange (MO) degradation. For comparison, series of LDHs with various molar ratios Ni2+(or Mg2+)/Cr3+(or Fe3+)/LA−(or CO32−) prepared. X−ray diffraction (XRD) element analysis showed that Ni/Cr(2/1)−1.0 LA LDH had most ordered crystal structure, same photocatalytic decolorization performance Mg/Cr(2/1)−1.0LA towards MO, which was significantly superior to Ni/Cr−CO3 LDH, Ni/Fe(2/1)−1.0LA LA−, Cr3+ LA−. The removal rate MO initial concentration 100 mg/L by Ni/Cr(2/1)−1.0LA (0.5 g/L) could be up 80% UV light irradiation 3 h, almost twice higher than sorption test. reaction in accordance pseudo-first-order kinetics, implied catalytic process took place on surface catalyst. All results indicate photodegradation Ni/Cr−LA enhanced onto intercalated LA− interlayer. free radical capture experiments suggest main role mechanism •O2− high oxidation activity produced electron-hole pairs excited light. Additionally, further reacted adjacent molecule pre-sorbed LA.

Photocatalytic O-2 evolution from water over Zn-Cr layered double hydroxides intercalated with inorganic anions

Zn-Cr layered double hydroxides (LDHs) intercalated with inorganic anions (CO3, Cl, SO4 and NO3) were synthesized by the co-precipitation method and the anion exchange process. The photocatalytic activity of the LDHs was studied by O2 evolution from aqueous solution of AgNO3 as a sacrificial agent. All the prepared LDHs showed photocatalytic activity under either UV and/or visible light irradia...

Ab initio Investigation of Layered Double Hydroxides with Intercalated Herbicides

Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) or hydrotalcite-like compounds exist either as naturally occurring minerals or as synthesized materials by low-cost synthesis methods. LDHs consist of positively charged metal hydroxide layers having the composition [M1–x Mx(OH)2][Ax/m ·nH2O] where M and M are divalent and trivalent cations, respectively. The value of x is the molar fraction and can vary between...

Enhanced luminescence of europium-doped layered double hydroxides intercalated by sensitiser anions.

Four sensitising anions naphthalene-1,5-disulfonate (15-NDS), naphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylate (26-NDC), benzoate (BA) and terephthalate (TA) were intercalated into a Eu(3+)-doped Zn/Al layered double hydroxide. The carboxylate anions enhanced the red luminescence of Eu(3+) much more strongly than the sulfonate, in the descending order TA > 26-NDC > BA > 15-NDS.

Exfoliation of layered double hydroxides for enhanced oxygen evolution catalysis.

The oxygen evolution reaction is a key reaction in water splitting. The common approach in the development of oxygen evolution catalysts is to search for catalytic materials with new and optimized chemical compositions and structures. Here we report an orthogonal approach to improve the activity of catalysts without alternating their compositions or structures. Specifically, liquid phase exfoli...
